Trump's Organization Attempted to Hire Nearly 200 Employees on Work Permits in 2025

Donald Trump’s corporate entity accelerated its hiring of overseas employees on short-term work permits this year, while his administration was creating barriers for other businesses attempting to do the same, a report released Thursday stated.

According to information from the US Department of Labor, the Trump Organization aimed to bring in at least 184 foreign workers in the coming year for temporary positions at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his Virginia winery.

The number of applications for temporary work visas covering staff including servers, office assistants, housekeepers, culinary employees and farm workers was the highest ever submitted by the company, and increased from over 120 in 2021, when his presidency concluded.

It was also the fifth instance in a decade that Trump had attempted to hire more than 100 foreign employees for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, based on labor statistics.

The revelation comes amid a tightening on legal immigration by his government that has included the introduction of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; increased review of the actions of the millions of people who possess American work permits; and tighter regulations for international scholars and journalists.

Overall, the business aimed to hire 566 foreign laborers over the five years the former president has been in the presidency, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Notably, Trump was criticized by some in the GOP this period for remarks justifying the necessity for foreign workers when a company was unable to find people with “specific talents” to occupy certain positions.

“You can’t just say a country is coming in, going to invest billions to construct a facility, and going to take people off an unemployment line who have been unemployed in years, and they’re going to start making their defense systems. It isn’t feasible that effectively,” he stated to a interviewer after she suggested that overseas employees undercut the pay of US workers.

The administration declined a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not provide an answer to an request for information.
