Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.
The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.
Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable
No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Rice's Prior Legal Issues
The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
On the field, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
